You are welcome to make a virtual visit to the exhibition "The Art of the Sublime Porte", which gives an opportunity to learn more about the Kremlin collection of Turkish art. It is based on a unique Kremlin collection of the Turkish artworks executed in the period of active diplomatic and trade relations between Russia and the Ottoman Empire, which was called by the Europeans the "Sublime Porte" in the XVIIth century. These historical relics, successfully preserved in the state treasure house, mark one of the most brilliant pages in the history of Turkey and its art as well.

The exhibition presents ancient arms, luxurious horse trappings, articles decorated with precious metals and stones, embroidered textiles and some articles of the Russian Tsars' regalia.

Sections of the virtual display correspond to main themes of the exhibition. The first section of the exposition is dedicated to defensive and military weaponry as well as to items of horse harness. Of exceptional interest are articles commissioned from Istanbul craftsmen that constituted part of the Tsar's regalia.

The second exhibition section reveals craftsmanship and inventiveness of the Turkish jewellers. Attention of the audience will be captured by luxurious velvet and altabas fabrics (silk cloth interwoven with silver).
